Facebook Connect available for iPhone and iPod

Facebook has announced the launch of Facebook Connect for iPhone and iPod. This will enable Facebook users to access their Facebook Account via iPhone and interact with their friends.

The iPhone app will make it easier to login and share information with Facebook Friends who also use iPhone app.

With Facebook Connect users can easily discover and share interesting information with Facebook Feed Stories and Status updates.

Friends List will help Facebook users to get latest movie recommendations and chat with friends while playing games. The popular iPhone game Tap Tap Revenge is integrating the technology which will make it possible for Tap Tap Revenge Gamers to publish their scores via Facebook news feeds.

iAnywhere Mobile Office for the iPhone

iAnywhere Mobile Office extends Lotus Domino and Microsoft Exchange to iPhone users for a complete enterprise solution that supports email, calendaring, tasks and contacts with corporate directory lookup. In addition, it provides several key security features for IT to administer and control iPhones within the enterprise including:

* Application password protection
* On-device encryption for all enterprise data contained within the iAnywhere Mobile Office application on an iPhone
* On-demand remote data wipe to remove all enterprise data within the application in the case of a device being lost or stolen

To Use iAnywhere Mobile Office on an iPhone You Will Need to:

1. Download and install the iAnywhere Mobile Office server. Request free 30-day trial.
2. Configure the server to point to the hosted iAnywhere Proxy Server.
3. Download the iAnywhere Mobile Office iPhone client from the App Store. Download client.

Apple Wants To Make Jailbreaking Worthy Of Jail Time, $2500 Fine

iphone The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) has petitioned the Library of Congress to officially protect phone owners who bypass software restrictions on their phones—aka “jailbreaking.” Apple has just filed an objection, arguing that doing so would infringe on their copyright. If Apple gets its way,

would have the right to claim statutory damages of up to $2,500 “per act of circumvention.” People who jailbreak phones, might even be subject to criminal penalties of as long as five years, if they circumvented copyright for a financial gain.

The big question, of course, is who really owns your damned phone? Apple says that bypassing their software restrictions messes with the “chain of trust” they’ve set up and screws up their “ecosystem.” The EFF counters that if you apply Apple’s argument to another industry, it falls apart:

Iphone 3.0 update previewed

APPLE PREVIEWED FORTHCOMING CHANGES to its mobile operating system yesterday and it appears that the Cupertino company has been listening to its developers and users.

Apple has added over 1000 new APIs to the software developer kit (SDK), most of which address shortcomings in previous releases, as well as over 100 new features which will appear at release time.

Here’s a brief run-down of the major new additions. You can watch the full 90-minute keynote here, but we wouldn’t recommend it (yawn).

Wide Mail Keyboard for iPhone

About Wide Mail Keyboard

Wide Mail Keyboard is an iPhone/iPod touch web app which allows you to comfortably write e-mails using a wide keyboard with larger buttons while holding your device in landscape orientation which isn’t currently supported by Apple’s Mobile Mail application.

Instructions

Using Wide Mail Keyboard is simple: Just load the web app and hold your iPhone or iPod touch in landscape orientation. Tap the text field and start writing your e-mail. When you are done writing tap the Done button on the keyboard. Your text will be automatically saved to a cookie every second if you’ve selected the auto save checkbox.

You can now read your text by scrolling the text field with two fingers. When you’re satisfied with the result just tap Send to Mail and the Mail application on your device does the rest.
