Apple Iphone Fun and Iphone Guide. Iphone apps, iphone wallpapers, iphone software
Several new applications have hit the App Store recently to bring greater functionality to the iPhone.
For instance, a web-based app of Google Translate was launched that brings you translating power on the go.
Plus, an e-book reader called Stanza has opened the door to Kindle-like abilities, though you can only download public domain titles at the moment.
A program call Qik makes video streaming possible from your iPhone and Simplify Media makes live streaming of your music library a breeze.
Box Office has also returned to the App Store, though now it’s called Now Playing.
We offered several application reviews this week, as well. Crossword Light provided a detailed crossword puzzling experience, while Tilt Snake was a fun diversion, reminiscent of the old arcade game, though it could be improved.

If you want an e-book reader but can’t afford several hundred dollars for the Amazon Kindle, you could try the a free app called Stanza that just hit the iTunes App Store. Now you can’t purchase brand new books through the app, but it can read .mobi files, so any e-books you do buy and download onto your computer could be transferred over. Nice.
For the moment, the only e-books you can download through Stanza are those in the public domain and Creative Commons texts from Feedbooks. Even so, many a classic is in the public domain, allowing you to take a veritable library with you on the go.
While it would seem to be rather easy to sync up the Stanza app with Amazon.com, allowing seamless e-book purchases and downloads this will probably never happen. Amazon would sell a lot of e-books but they’d cut out their Kindle, which doesn’t seem like a plausible move on their part.

You can use iPhone to make calls in many countries around the world. You must first enable your carrier’s service plan for international roaming.
IMPORTANT: Voice and data roaming charges may apply. To avoid data roaming charges, turn Data Roaming off.
Turning Data Roaming off helps to avoid data roaming charges when traveling outside your carrier’s network by disabling data transmission over the cellular network. You can still access the Internet if you have a Wi-Fi connection. If Wi-Fi network access is not available, however, you cannot:
If Data Roaming is turned off, you can still make and receive phone calls, and send and receive text messages. Voice roaming charges may apply. Visual voicemail is delivered if there is no charge; if your carrier charges for delivery of visual voicemail when roaming, turning Data Roaming off prevents the delivery of visual voicemail until you turn Data Roaming back on or return to an area where your carrier’s network is available.
To enable email, web browsing, and other data services, turn Data Roaming on.
IMPORTANT: If Data Roaming is turned on, you may incur charges when roaming outside your carrier’s network for the use of any of the features listed above, as well as for delivery of visual voicemail. Check with your carrier for information about roaming charges. Read the rest of this entry »
