Use the GPS in your iPhone to Track Your Workouts

RunKeeper iPhone Application

Do you run, walk, bike, or ski? Then you’ve probably asked, “How far did I go today?” Well if you use RunKeeper on your iPhone, then you can track your distance, speed, time and more. This is all done using the GPS built into the phone right on the fly. What’s even better is that you can save all of your workouts online. You can go to the RunKeeper site using your free account and view mounds of data on all of your runs.

You will track the following performance statistics:

* See how far you run, walk, and ride.
* Track your speed, pace, and elevation.
* Record and map your routes using GPS.
* Share your fitness activities and progress with your friends!

Running Apps for iPhone 3G

November 6th, 2008 No Comments

As soon as Apple announced iPhone 3G would feature GPS support a mental image of Nike + iPod sans the iPod came to my mind. About a month after the arrival of the iPhone App Store the first applications to keep track of your running workout are available:

* Path Tracker is an inexpensive tool to map your route and speed. iTunes link

* iTrail also looks promising. iTunes link

* RunKeeper is more sophisticated (and expensive; $10/8€) but doesn’t display a map with your track on the iPhone 3G. Instead it features a web dashboard to access your workout history and a Google Map.

Wide Mail Keyboard for iPhone

November 6th, 2008 No Comments

About Wide Mail Keyboard

Wide Mail Keyboard is an iPhone/iPod touch web app which allows you to comfortably write e-mails using a wide keyboard with larger buttons while holding your device in landscape orientation which isn’t currently supported by Apple’s Mobile Mail application.

Instructions

Using Wide Mail Keyboard is simple: Just load the web app and hold your iPhone or iPod touch in landscape orientation. Tap the text field and start writing your e-mail. When you are done writing tap the Done button on the keyboard. Your text will be automatically saved to a cookie every second if you’ve selected the auto save checkbox.

You can now read your text by scrolling the text field with two fingers. When you’re satisfied with the result just tap Send to Mail and the Mail application on your device does the rest.
